Fort Lauderdale Summer Fishing
Report Date: June 28, 2017
We are into the summer fishing patterns. Watching the weather and heading out when we get our chances. Lots of rain and wind this spring and early summer so far but there has been nice gaps that are giving up great conditions to be on the water.
Offshore the dependable Bonita is taking live baits as usual. Over the last 10 years or so we have had a change to out Kingfish patterns. I am getting better results during summer than we use to during the winter. They are here now and taking turns at the bait with the Bonita. The Sailfish pop up randomly and you always have a chance to get one on. Dolphin are setting up further offshore but are still there to the lucky boats that burn some fuel and cross paths.
The inshore scene is producing the standard Jack Crevalle and Barracuda action. Some smaller Tarpon are mixed in and the occasional Snook will jump the baits too. Generally good action this time of year. Watch the storm patterns and get out when you can.
Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
