Fort Lauderdale Florida deep sea fishing report

Report Date: April 25, 2013

Yes it has been a while. As I explained to a few who asked, the winter bite was kind of uneventful with a few trips producing more then expected but most days we were happy to catch a few. Now that we are into spring that has changed.

The last few outings put us inline with the northern migration and we did get into the bite. The Dolphin (mahi) cooperated well. Most school size fish in the 4 to 6 pound range but a few 15+ pounders kept it interesting. Blackfin Tuna are jumping baits too. A nice 25 pounder made it to the cooler yesterday. Sailfish are slipping into the spread most trips and they usually beat the Hammerheads to the bait!

Bait is running the inlets so the Jack Crevalle and Barracuda are fed well. A few Spanish Mackerel are still there too. Generally great action that we count on every year at this time. It should continue like this into early June. Pick your lucky day and give it a try.

Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
