Fort Lauderdale Florida deep sea fishing report

Report Date: August 18, 2010

We are in the thick of summer. 90s most every day but it looks like the northern states are beating our temps many days. Maybe that is why we are keeping so busy this summer. People coming to Florida in August to cool off and do some fishing?

The bite has been good too. The usual Kingfish and Bonitas are cooperating most every trip. The nice surprise is the Sailfish bite. They have made regular appearances on many trips lately. Just one or 2 shots but alaways welcome during mid summer. A few Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna still left straggling. The Dolphin have moved further out and become tougher to find as the summer progresses. Bottom fishing is giving up a few Snapper when the conditions are right.

Inshore the Barracuda and Jack Crevalle have settled into the traditional spots. Live bait and moving tide water always produces. The real challenge has been to stay away from the thunderstorms and hope for a breeze. We have had good luck so far this summer with the weather and fishing. Lets hope it keeps up.

Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
