Fort Lauderdale Florida fishing report

Report Date: October 12, 2008

October has arrived and so has the fall run. The bait run is on. Lots of mullet in the inlet, on the beaches and offshore. The Kingfish are chewing in 100-160 feet of water up and down the coast. A few scattered Dolphin are moving through too. The Sailfish are not in yet but lucky anglers are still stumbling on one every now and then.

We caught our first Spanish Mackerel of the season this past week and it was well inside the inlet with the tide. The Mac bite will go off any day now. The Jack Crevalle are hunting in huge packs. With each high tide they unload on the unlucky mullet schools inside the local canals. The breeze really picked up today so it means I will get to explore all my local inshore spots this week. This happens to be a great time to do this so no worries.

Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
