Fort Lauderdale offshore fishing action

Report Date: March 12, 2019

Looks like we are knocking on springs door. Still a few cool days but mostly warm weather and a few nights that are cooler yet. This is when the fishing starts to turn on, not only here but in many other areas where fish roam. A few Sailfish were caught lately in between the chunky Kingfish. The Dolphin are further offshore but a few show up in closer on days when the water is clean and the wind is blowing them in. The sonar was showing lots of marks on the last trip and the flying fish were taking to the air. That is a sign that bigger fins are chasing them.

The bottom is giving up a few Mutton Snapper and various Jacks. A Grouper will get on if you are lucky. Season is closed but they still bend the rod.

The Barracuda were active inshore the last few trips and some nice sized Jacks Crevalles tested the drag. Key to action here is fresh live bait. If you have it then you have a great chance at getting into the bite.
