Fort Lauderdale Summer Fishing Action

Report Date: August 21, 2018

The bite has been good for mid summer. If you can dodge the afternoon storms and get out early the action has held up well. Offshore the mix consisted of Kingfish and Bonita with scattered Sailfish and Blackfin Tuna. Live bait has been getting the bites. The Dolphin are far offshore and mostly smaller school fish. An occasional bottom bite with mixed snapper, grouper and amberjack is happening in shallow.

Inshore the Jack Crevalle and Barracuda are cooperating well. Ever once in a while a Tarpon will crash the bait and those who are lucky will stay connected.

Generally good action for this time of year. Beat the heat and the rains and you should have a nice day on the water.
