Fort Lauderdale Florida fishing report
Report Date: July 20, 2011
I am still here. Missed a few updates but I have been out of town some and then the computer stories...
We are into a true South Florida summer pattern. Live baiting a few miles off the coast has provided all the action your arms and back can handle most days by way of Bonita. They are running 8-15+ pounds so they know how to pull on light tackle. Expect double and triple hook ups when your paths cross. Mixed in with them are chunky summer Kingfish. Averaging 10 pounds with many pushing 20 lately. The occasional Sailfish is still crashing the party too. We have seen free jumpers or caught one most trips during the last few weeks. The Dolphin are far offshore and very scattered this time of year. Smooth water weekdays with a full tank of gas is the way to do it. Keep an eye on the water for fish and the other on the sky for the scattered thunderstorms that are always present.
Generally good fishing for this time of year. Get the right weather and you stand a good chance of keeping busy with the rods.
Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
