Fort Lauderdale Florida Fishing Report

Report Date: July 14, 2009

The summer has set in. I can confirm this with the action we saw yesterday. The Bonita's were very hungry and very big. They made our light tackle work for it. The bite was consistent most of the morning. A few Kingfish and Barracuda are taking shots too the the Bonitas seemed to be the most agressive.

The bottom has a few Snapper hanging around although most are undersize and go back to fight another day. The inshore bite is made up of mostly Barracuda and Jack crevalle although I have seen lots of Tarpon in the inlet lately and lots of schools of small baitfish moving in and out too.

This pattern should continue for the next few months. Get your mornings in before the afternoon storms come knocking. We do get good notice here though of the weather heading our way, just look up.

Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
