Fort Lauderdale Florida Fishing Report
Report Date: January 5, 2009
The weather has been great lately and the fishing good. We are sitting on some warm days and this has kept the bite on the slow side. A change is coming mid week and this will get the fish moving again and get the rods bending.
Before the warm front arrived ealier this week the fishing was produced Sailfish, Kingfish, Mackerel, Bonita and a few Dolphin. Drifting live baits a few miles offshore was the method that worked best. Days the wind allowed, we hung baits under the kite and the Sailfish loved it. The inshore scene is mostly Jack Crevalle and Barracuda. Moving current and staying away from the boat traffic really helped to score inshore.
The winter has been warm so far and it is still early so we are expecting a good run as soon as the cooler north winds start to blow. As all fishing goes, you can't predict it so just give it a shot. You don't want to miss out on the day when they are swimming through our waters heading south.
Sea Ya,
Captain Ron
